Guidelines for the deposition and release of macromolecular coordinate and experimental data

چکیده
2 Correspondence should be addressed to Mitchell Guss, Chairman of the Commission on Biological Macromolecules, Department of Biochemistry, University of Sydney, NSW 2006, Australia, e-mail: [email protected]. Recent discussions of the Commission on Biological Macromolecules have con®rmed support for a modi®cation of the existing guidelines for the deposition and release of macromolecular coordinate and experimental data. Consequently, the IUCr has adopted the recommendations of Baker & Saenger [Baker & Saenger (1999), Acta Cryst. D55, 2±3], with minor modi®cations. We recognize that the over-riding motivation is to ensure that the data is deposited and that it will be freely available to the scienti®c community. We are also aware of the fact that there is a strong feeling that some delay on release of the data after publication may be warranted in exceptional circumstances. These ethical issues are extensively canvassed in the Baker and Saenger article. The modi®cations to the published statement concern the following points. (a) Namely that structure-factor amplitudes be treated in the same way as coordinates. That is, a maximum delay of six months from publication may be requested but that normally they should be available from publication of the relevant article. (b) That publication of ID codes be modi®ed to indicate relevant PDB or NDB entry codes. The full text of the modi®ed recommendations is as follows.

Second Harmonic Generation Diagnostic of Layer by Layer Deposition from Disperse Red 1–Functionalized Maleic Anhydride Copolymer
Layer-by-layer (LBL) electrostatic assembly of poly-electrolytes is proving to be an increasingly rich and versatile technique for the formation of multilayered thin films with a wide range of electrical, magnetic, and optical properties. In the present work we synthesized a new nonlinear optical (NLO) maleic acid copolymer containing Disperse Red 1 moieties, built-up multilayer assemblies by a...
متن کاملDeposition and release of macromolecular structural data.
There has been much recent discussion on the issue of the deposition and release of macromolecular structural data [see editorials in Nature, 391, 617 (1998) and Nature Structural Biology, 5, 83±84 and 165±166 (1998) and the letter from Wlodawer et al. in Science, 16 January 1998]. These editorials and letters rightly point out the critical value that macromolecular structural data now have for...
متن کاملArchival journal requirements for data deposition.
A formal discussion of the archival journal requirements for data deposition was held at the International Seminar-cumSchool on Macromolecular Crystallographic Data at Calcutta, India in November. The current policy of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) is that on publication of a crystal structure determination of a macromolecule, the atomic parameters used or represented in the...
متن کاملNovel High Capacity Swelling Superabsorbent Composite and Its Potential for Controlled Release of Fertilizers
A hydrophilic macromolecular network is prepared by performing graft copolymerization of poly (sodium acrylate) chains onto salep and silica gel. The reaction parameters affecting the water absorbency of the superabsorbent composite were optimized using Taguchi method. FT-IR spectroscopy and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) were used for confirming the s...

The goal of this research is preparation, optimization and in-vitro evaluation of rifampin-loaded silica nanaoparticles in order to use in pulmonary drug delivery. Nanoparticles are exhaled because of thier small size, Preparation of nanoaggregates in micron-sized scale and re-disrpersion of them after the deposition in the lung is one approach in order to overcome this problem, which we used i...
